Kirkuk Power Project
Overview: Completed in less than six months, this power project in Northern Iraq further established BTEC as a full EPC provider capable of implementing complex fast-track assignments from inception to commissioning.
Customer: Major Government Contractor
Situation: In late March 2004, BTEC was awarded a contract to replace two Frame 5 gas generator packages, replace one Frame 6B gas turbine generator package and complete all repairs necessary to put two non-operational Frame 5 turbines back onto the grid.
The BTEC Response: BTEC immediately began mobilizing manpower, equipment and materials to the site. We quickly assembled a team of over 70 BTEC staff and had turbines on the ground in Iraq within days. Our assessment indicated that some of the units could be refurbished rather than replaced.
